I'm going to Sonoma Raceway to go karting for a friends birthday....first time karting, and I know decent apexing corner techniques from going down roads with a bike, but any advice Oppo? Pictures of Ferraris at the SF dealership from last weekend.

Just have fun! Don't worry about being fast off the bat. Just learn the course, try to get the feel for how the kart reacts to your inputs from the throttle and brake, and drive at a pace that you feel comfortable at. You'll figure it out.

I'm pretty quick in a kart. Key is to follow someone faster than you and learn their line.
Also realize that all the karts are pretty much identical, this means you should ALWAYS be able to brake later than the driver in front (unless they are perfect or really crappy). That's what I do to keep pace with the quicker guys.

Damn. I've only been in the area for about 2.5 months and am needing to go do some car things. Know of any?

if you're talking about the Sonoma/Santa rosa area, I don't live near there. I live down a bit in the Walnut creek/concord/PH area

I'm talking about anywhere in the greater Bay Area. I don't mind getting up at 4 to drive to an event or show. I live in Vallejo though.
